Revealing the truth behind common elevator misconceptions

We’re all guilty of it— waiting for an elevator to arrive, and pushing the call button over and over in hopes the elevator car will arrive faster… but does this actually work?

Myth

Elevators are the most frequently used mode of transportation in the world. Every 3 days, elevators move the equivalent of the world’s population (7+ billion people). Although so many people rely on elevators to get them where they’re going on a daily basis, few people are actually aware of what happens behind the scenes. Since most of the elevator equipment is hidden from the passenger’s view, there is a lot to be left to the imagination— forming the basis of a wide range of common elevator myths and misconceptions.

After working with elevators and elevator motors for over 30 years, Renown Electric has put together an infographic that lists common elevator myths and then debunks them— revealing the truth behind each.
